Dana Parker of New to Makeup Effects.com

It was 1985. I was 7 years old and glued to my seat on the floor in front of the television. My VHS (the DVD of the 80’s) of The Making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller was my everything. I watched it, start to finish, a billion times a day.

It was my first introduction to makeup effects, and it changed my life. Though the music had an effect of its own, the makeup was the real magic.

Since then my goals in life have been somewhat fantastical. Artistic. I’ve never been one to sit at a desk, although I did it for (too) many years. I’ve always known my calling was in creating art.

I’ve decided I can live my life in art, and this blog is my way of sharing that determination with the world.

I can’t go on without sending a huge thanks to my wonderful husband. Because of him I’m able to live out my dream of doing makeup, music and art. (Did I mention my husband is the best?)

New to Makeup Effects.com is my gift to anyone out there wondering how it’s all done, how to do makeup. Now, I’ll admit that I can’t get enough of horror…the gorier the better, I say…but I didn’t want to stop there. I wanted to know everything you’d need to know as a professional makeup artist.

It’s a burning passion I’ve had since I was a little girl. Why not share my search with you!?

Enjoy!
